Lush Face Mask Review: Oatfix

I am officially back on track with uploading every Monday and Friday…yay! I can’t even begin to describe how much work goes into setting up a new flat, and figuring out all the logistics such as internet, power and furniture! Not only that but also the beginning of Uni starting! Anyway, I am prepared to be very punctual with my posts and you will be seeing a lot of reviews, ideas and hauls very soon!

With orientation week at Uni being so crazy and hectic, my friend Jordan and I decided to stay in for one of the nights and pamper ourselves! We popped into our local Lush store and the guy who served us was so helpful with advising us what to get! I picked up the Oatfix mask, because I have quite sensitive skin and it tends to become quite dry if I don’t moisturise daily. I absolutely loved it!! It smells so good, and I can honestly say that my skin has never felt so soft and smooth! Unfortunately I have broken out since using it, not majorly but I think that is just because it really brought out the bad oils and excess make up out of my skin. Orientation in Dunedin is very chaotic and because I was going out every night, my skin was dehydrated and clogged up.

I am so happy with the result of this mask and now I can’t wait to try more! I would definitely recommend it, even if you don’t have sensitive skin. It is just divine! And of course, I had to finish it off by painting my nails with Essie's 'Fiji' ...

I would love to read your suggestions so if you have any please let me know!

Single on Valentine's Day?

I know there are so many people out there who absolutely dread being single on Valentine's Day, I mean it's the one day in the year where all the couples get together and are super romantic etc, but I honestly think being single on Valentine's Day can be loads of fun! Here are a few of my ideas to have a blast with your girlfriends on the 14th of February...

1. This year my friends and I have decided to do a secret Valentine, so just like secret santa except in the middle of February! We all put our names in a hat and each buy a small gift for the person we pull out! Who says you have to show your love to just a guy in your life? By doing this gift giving, it means you wont feel left out when everyone is posting the cute presents their boys got them on Valentine's Day onto Facebook, because you got one too!

2. Another thing I love to do while everyone is out on dates is to get all dolled up (makeup and hair) with my friends and then sit down and watch FRIENDS all together. It is seriously the best tv show to watch because it's not going to make you sad, or feel lonely. Its just going to make you laugh A LOT :) So as well as feeling good inside, you feel fabulous on the outside too ;)

(Best friends Caitlin, Jordan and Jasmine)

3. My third idea for feeling happy and content with your single status, is to cook a meal for your fellow single girls! Set the table all fancy, sit down together and eat good food! A glass or two of wine is also very fun, and afterwards you could all watch a movie or listen to good music!

(Caitlin, Jordan, Jasmine)

There really is no reason to feel down on Valentine's Day, it's just another day in the year and just remember that you are going to have plenty of special days with your future other half when you're married! Enjoy these years with your friends while you still can! I hope you all have a wonderful day, regardless of whether you are in a relationship or not, be happy and don't forget to smile :)

January Favourites!

I can't believe it is already the end of January!! I feel like Christmas day was only yesterday, but nevertheless I am closer to starting back at uni soon so I'm very happy it went fast! I have a few staple favourites for this month, which have been very useful during New Zealand's summer. Here we go...

Given that I am a total beach bum in the summer, I need to keep my skin as hydrated as I can to prevent dry patches, and any flaking of my skin. I tan very easily and can also burn so I try to mpisturise at least 2 times a day, especially in the morning and before I go to bed. For me, I think the best time is right out of the shower, because your skin is always softest then, and your pores are still open to soak in the moisture! The body moisturiser I have been OBSESSED with this month is the St. Ives Naturally Indulgent Body Lotion. This is around $8 from any supermarket around New Zealand so it's very afforable! The only fault I have with this is that the pump doesn't seem to go very far down the bottle so it appears to run out a lot quicker than it actually has!

For my face, I love to use the Olay Moisturising Cream for Sensitive Skin. I break out so easily and this stuff is perfect because it is so thick and creamy and I really feel like it hydrates my skin so so well. I put this on in the morning and at night before I go to bed, and it leaves my skin feeling so smooth! I always out a little extra on my neck too, just because people so often forget to put cream on there and it can get super dry!

In terms of make up, I have adored the Mac Opulash mascara this month! I have quite long eyelashes already so when I buy a mascara I look for something that is super volumising and I HAVE to have a brush that is bristles rather than those plastic wands that a lot of mascaras these days have! In New Zealand make up is crazy expensive so when I bought this I was so surprised it only came to $35! Yay!

I don't get to try a lot of NYX products because they don't sell them in any NZ stores, so I bought this off beautyjoint.com and absolutely love it! I can't remember exactly how much but it was definitely under $10. It is so creamy and shimmery and looks perfect in the summertime just to add an extra little glow to the tops of my cheeks, above my cupid's bow and down the centre of my nose!

I was also very lucky to receive an EOS lip balm in the scent tropical fruits from my best friend Jordan when she went overseas this summer. It is so so moisturising and conditioning that my lips always feel soft and they smell soooooo delicious! Perfect for the summer too because with all the sun exposure, people often forget that lip protection is a must!

Not only did Jordan treat me to lots of clothing, and jewelery but she also stopped in at Bath and Body Works which is my favourite!! Unfortunately NZ doesn't have anything like this, and it's so frustrating that they don't ship internationally but nevertheless their products smell divine! I am in love with this Warm Vanilla Sugar body spray, it is so sweet and pleasant to wear, but not over powering at all. Maybe this would be more of a winter scent but I am a sucker for vanilla so i'm enjoying it now :)

Finally, I had to include my Argania Hair Oil for Light hair because it has made such a difference to the condition of my hair this summer. As i mentioned before, I love the beach so the combination of sand and sun makes my hair (or any hair really!) very dry, so putting this oil through my newly washed hair just gives it a shine and helps to put moisture back through the ends of my hair especially!

Thank you so much for reading through all my babbling, and please let me know what your favourites have been this month (beauty or non-beauty) ! I also have a blogspot profile on there so you can also find me there :) Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Introducing Delta Rain

Oh hi!

My name is Caitlin, and I am behind Delta Rain. I live in New Zealand, which I consider to be one of the world's greatest. I am only now, at almost 19 years old, beginning to realise just how lucky I am to live in such a raw, safe, and pure place!

I am so excited to share with you all the adventures in my life as I enter my second year of University! 2014 will bring me a new learning experience as I move out of home and into a 'flat' with 5 other girls, learn an entirely new language, and try to maintain a regular blog. I hope to be very successful in all 3 haha!

I am planning on posting regularly about my passion within beauty, fashion and food. Being a student, I know I am forever searching for cheap and tasty meal ideas, beauty and hair care tips and of course, inspiration on outfits and trends. I guess what i really want to achieve is a lifestyle blog that has something for everybody, whether it be a review on a product, or an insight to my daily life as a student at university. I want to share my story and my ideas with you all.

Please don't hesitate to write a comment with your own thoughts and suggestions for me, as I am very new to this and need all the help I can get!!

Thank you, thank you

Caitlin
